Rev Z – How seriously are you taking your role as a sheepdog?

I think most of us are familiar with the “sheepdog” concept. How seriously are you taking your personal role of sheepdog for your flock? All of us have a flock to watch over and take care of. That certainly includes your family, but what about others? Maybe you are the kind of person who could seal themselves into a vault and say to hell with the rest of the world.

As a firefighter/EMT one of the first things you learn is take care of your own safety first and foremost. After that, you do everything you reasonably can to save lives and protect property. I would hope that my preparedness may allow me to help others. I think that is what the good Shepherd would have me to do. On the TV series “The Walking Dead”, the one character I was always impressed with was Dale. Dale was the older gentleman who drove the Winnebago. No matter how bad things got, he always seemed to keep a grip on behaving like a human being. He also got bitten by a zombie and died…Oh well.
