Celebrity quotes on guns

Celebrity quotes on guns

Hollywood seems to always permeate the political landscape. Due to their notoriety, several Hollywood celebrities have transitioned into a public office with relative ease. And we’ve had wonderful results: Ronald Reagan is regarded highly as the greatest U.S. president. It’s common knowledge that most celebrities tend to lean towards the left. Maybe it’s because of the their liberal arts backgrounds.

With Ashley Judd possibly joining the fray by running as a democrat  in the KY senate race, it will be interesting to see what her stance towards gun control is. Maybe she should take a close look at what some of her fellow celebrity colleagues (and others) have said about guns through the years…

“I don’t think movies or video games have anything to do with it. I don’t think [stopping gun violence] is about more gun control. I grew up in the South with guns everywhere, and we never shot anyone. This [shooting] is about people who aren’t taught the value of life.”
– Samuel Jackson

“I have a love interest in every one of my films – a gun.”
– Arnold Schwarzenegger

“I absolutely don’t believe you can put sanctions or shackles on what is made. Nor do I want to pretend the world is different than what we witnessed that night… America is a country founded on guns. It’s in our DNA. It’s very strange but I feel better having a gun. I really do. I don’t feel safe, I don’t feel the house is completely safe, if I don’t have one hidden somewhere. That’s my thinking, right or wrong.”
– Brad Pitt

“I have a very strict gun control policy: if there’s a gun around, I want to be in control of it.”
– Clint Eastwood

“The right to bear arms is because that’s the last form of defense against tyranny. Not to hunt.”
– Ice T

“The world is filled with violence. Because criminals carry guns, we decent law-abiding citizens should also have guns. Otherwise they will win and the decent people will lose.”
– James Earl Jones

“There are hundreds of millions of gun owners in this country, and not one of them will have an accident today. The only misuse of guns comes in environments where there are drugs, alcohol, bad parents, and undisciplined children. Period.”
– Ted Nugent

“I bought original, real guns of the type we used in ‘Tomb Raider’ for security. Brad and I are not against having a gun in the house, and we do have one. And yes, I’d be able to use it if I had to … If anybody comes into my home and tries to hurt my kids, I’ve no problem shooting them.”
– Angelina Jolie

“To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic.”
– Ted Nugent

“Everyone has a right to bear arms. If you take guns away from legal gun owners, then the only people who have guns are the bad guys.”
– Bruce Willis

“A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity.”

And that would be just fine
If you take ‘em away from the criminals first
I’d gladly give you mine”

– D. H. Lawrence

“Foolish liberals who are trying to read the Second Amendment out of the constitution by claiming it’s not an individual right or that it’s too much of a safety hazard don’t see the danger of the big picture. They’re courting disaster by encouraging others to use this same means to eliminate portions of the Constitution they don’t like.”
– Alan Dershowitz
